PART 5: The Final Resolution

When the ceremony finished, I pushed through the crowd toward the stage. Before I could even speak, all three of my daughters wrapped their arms around me in a tight group hug.

“You knew?” I choked out, wiping tears from my eyes. “Why didn’t you ever say anything to me?”

“Because you spent eighteen years taking care of us, Dad,” Nora whispered, hugging my arm. “It was our turn to take care of you.”

We didn’t need designer clothes, fancy cars, or long-lost promises. That evening, we sat around our small kitchen table with three framed diplomas resting in the center, laughing and eating takeout just like we had done every single year.

My daughters had grown up without sight, but they saw the truth clearer than anyone else ever could—and our family was complete just the way it was.
