PART 4: A DRESS OF TRIUMPH
“Security, please escort these two women off the premises immediately,” Gabriel said with cold, unwavering authority. “Their invitations are revoked, and they are banned from the venue.”
Diane screamed in outrage as security staff guided her and Lauren down the hall, their threats of disinheritance falling on completely deaf ears.
Gabriel turned to me, tears streaming down his face as he knelt beside the ruined lace on the carpet, begging for my forgiveness on behalf of his toxic family.
I knelt beside him, placing my hand over his, and reminded him that we were building our own family—one based on respect, truth, and genuine love.
With the help of my grandmother and the hotel’s master seamstress, we took the remaining undamaged pieces of my grandmother’s 1969 lace and pinned them onto a simple, elegant white satin dress available in the hotel boutique.
An hour late, but completely unburdened, I walked down the aisle toward the man who had chosen integrity over entitlement, celebrating a marriage that no cut of the scissors could ever destroy.
