PART 2: The Tunnel’s Secret

PART 5: The Final Resolution

The police arrived within minutes. Eleanor was arrested after officers discovered prescription sedatives hidden inside the kitchen pantry that matched the toxins found in Emily’s blood test results.

She was later charged with endangerment and poisoning, ultimately receiving a prison sentence that ensured she would never step foot in our family home again.

As for my marriage, the damage was done. Emily didn’t leave the state, but she left me. I handed over full ownership of the house to Margaret and Emily, moving into a small apartment across town to begin the hard work of earning my child’s future.

Today, I attend court-ordered counseling and supervised visits with my baby daughter, Maya. I know I will spend the rest of my life making up for the night I chose a tyrant over my family—but every time I hold Maya, I am reminded of the strength it took for her mother to survive, and the lesson I will never forget.
