Four weeks later, the bank officially filed foreclosure papers on the property after no payment was made, forcing Brent to face the direct consequences of his arrogance.
Without my $3,000 monthly contribution, they couldn’t afford the property taxes, the overdue energy bills, or even their daily luxury groceries.
Desperate to save himself, Brent managed to locate my new professional email address through an old colleague and sent a furious, demanding message.
“You left us with nothing, Naomi!” his email read. “Mom is going to lose the house because of your petty revenge! You owe us for abandoning your family!”
I read his message while sitting on a sunny terrace overlooking the Atlantic ocean, feeling completely unaffected by his manipulative attempts to spark my guilt.
Instead of replying with anger, I simply forwarded the original property deed, the bank transaction history of the last decade, and a formal letter from my lawyer.
The letter explicitly detailed that I had paid over $360,000 into the estate over ten years, and any further harassment would result in immediate legal action.
