Judge Vance walked directly up the stairs, taking the microphone from the trembling hands of the foundation’s interim director.
“For six months, Evelyn Sterling has claimed that my late friend left sole control of this foundation to her,” Judge Vance announced to the silent audience.
He opened the leather portfolio, revealing a legally binding codicil stamped with the state seal and verified by forensic handwriting experts.
“In reality, three days before his passing, Richard Sterling established a irrevocable trust that transferred ninety percent of all foundation assets directly to his daughter, Scarlett.”
Evelyn rushed toward the microphone, her calm facade completely crumbling into hysterical screams of anger and denial.
“He was not in his right mind!” she shrieked, pointing a shaking finger at me. “She manipulated him into changing his will!”
I stepped up to the microphone, plugging a small USB drive into the podium’s media hub, projecting my father’s final video recording onto the massive screens above.
