PART 3: THE ACCIDENTAL CONFRONTATION
Before I could fully process the horrors he had just revealed, the heavy iron front gate creaked open. The sharp sound of tires gripping the wet gravel announced my husband’s unexpected early return.
Panic surged through my chest as I quickly pulled the shirt back over his shoulders, trying desperately to fasten the buttons with shaking fingers. “Stay calm,” my brother-in-law urged softly, gripping my wrist with surprising strength. “You know the truth now.”
Heavy footsteps echoed down the hallway, and my husband appeared in the doorway of the patio, his coat dripping wet, his eyes narrowing as he took in the scene. “What did I tell you about coming in here alone with him?” he demanded, his voice laced with immediate suspicion.
He stepped onto the terrace, his gaze dropping to the half-buttoned shirt and the lingering fear on my face. “You didn’t listen to me, did you?” he said coldly, closing the distance between us as his mother stepped into the doorway behind him.
I stood my ground, stepping firmly in front of the wheelchair, staring into the eyes of the man I had married without a single trace of my former hesitation. “I know what you did to your brother,” I stated clearly.
