As the thirty-two guests took their seats at the marble dining table, I entered wearing a tailored emerald gown, calm and completely composed.
Alejandro stood up immediately, his face flushed with anger and embarrassment. “What kind of game is this, Elena? Whose money paid for all this?”
I gestured gracefully for everyone to remain seated before signaling Julián to hand Alejandro a leather-bound folder.
“Inside that folder are the original deeds to Valle Verde, held by the Varela Trust—my family’s foundation since before I met you,” I explained coolly.
“While you were mocking my ‘modest’ roots, my logistics corporation was quietly funding your struggling real estate firm, Alejandro.”
