PART 3: THE DEED OF RECKONING

Late that night, while the household slept, Rita retrieved a small locked metal briefcase from the top shelf of her closet. Inside lay the legal deeds, purchase receipts, and ownership certificates that Daniel and his arrogant family had conveniently chosen to ignore.

The very house they were occupying—the home Mam Daniel claimed belonged to her son—had been purchased entirely by Rita three years before she even met Daniel. Her late grandmother’s inheritance had funded the entire property, registered solely in Rita’s maiden name.

The following morning, instead of preparing breakfast for five ungrateful adults, Rita sat calmly at the head of the dining table with her corporate attorney and two private security officers standing quietly behind her.

When Mam Daniel walked into the dining room expecting her morning coffee, she froze at the sight of the legal documents spread across the polished table. Daniel stood in the doorway, his face draining of all color as he recognized the law firm’s official seal.

“You have thirty minutes to pack your belongings and clear out of my house,” Rita stated, her voice steady, cold, and entirely devoid of the fear they had cultivated in her for months.
