PART 2: THE FORGOTTEN LETTER
Standing before me was my older brother, Leo, whom I hadn’t seen or spoken to since our parents’ funeral.
After the accident, anger and grief had torn us apart, leading to a bitter argument that ended with him packing his bags and leaving town.
I stood in my cap and gown, completely speechless, tears streaming down my face as he smiled warmly at me.
“Leo?” I choked out, stepping closer as if he might disappear like a ghost. “How are you here?”
He reached into his jacket pocket and pulled out a worn, handwritten envelope postmarked from two weeks ago.
“Grandma wrote to me,” Leo said, his voice trembling with emotion. “She told me everything you’ve been carrying on your own.”
The letter contained truths I had kept hidden for months, revealing how hard I had fought to keep our family’s home afloat while attending school.
Leo’s eyes filled with remorse as he realized how much pain his absence had caused during my darkest hours.
