The next morning, Isaiah bypassed his corporate limousine and drove his own vehicle deep into the heart of South Chicago, stopping in front of a modest, aging community center.

Through the glass doors, he saw her—older, her face marked by years of hard work, but carrying the exact same warmth and grace he had carried in his mind every single day.

She was ladling warm soup into bowls for a long line of eager, smiling children, wiping down the simple folding tables with endless patience.

Isaiah opened the heavy glass door, the small bell above it ringing loudly enough to make her look up from the serving counter.
