Ethan sprang to his feet, shouting over the murmuring crowd that the document was a fake and that he would contest it in court.
“Furthermore,” Michael continued, unbothered by the outburst, “attached to this testament is a final forensic audio file requested by the deceased to be played publicly.”
The attorney pressed a button on a small audio console, filling the holy sanctuary with Ethan’s own loud, aggressive voice recorded weeks prior.
The recording detailed Ethan’s explicit admission of financial fraud, his plan to drain Emily’s accounts, and his open affair with the woman sitting beside him.
Two police officers quietly stepped through the rear doors of the church, blocking the main exit as the crowd watched in stunned silence.
The woman in the red dress grabbed her handbag and tried to hurry down the side aisle, but an officer politely stepped into her path to stop her.
Ethan stood frozen in front of his wife’s casket, his arrogance evaporating into complete and undeniable ruin as the handcuffs clicked behind his back.
