PART 3: UNEXPECTED ARRIVALS
“Pack your desk, Michael,” Mr. Vance declared coldly, enjoying the moment in front of the entire open-plan office. “We warned you last week. Punctuality is non-negotiable here.”
Michael pleaded, trying to explain the pregnant woman stranded on Route 9, but Vance simply smirked and waved him off, calling it a pathetic, fabricated excuse.
Heartbroken and wondering how he would support Lily, Michael gathered his few belongings into a cardboard box and slowly walked toward the main lobby exit.
Just as his hand touched the glass door, the building’s executive elevator chimed, drawing the attention of every employee and manager in the room.
Stepping out was the pregnant woman from Route 9, now wearing a tailored blazer and holding a sleek leather briefcase, surrounded by the company’s board of directors.
Vance immediately dropped to his knees in subservience, bowing nervously as he greeted her. “Welcome, Ms. Morrison! We weren’t expecting the new CEO until 10:00 a.m.!”
