The lawyer set the letter down and pulled a thick legal document from his briefcase.
“Russell placed his primary liquid assets, investments, and corporate shares into a private trust eighteen months ago,” the lawyer announced. “Under the terms of the trust, the family mansion and eighty percent of the capital reserve have been deeded exclusively to his wife.”
Victoria gasped, springing up from her chair. “That’s impossible! He was manipulated! We’re contesting this!”
“You can certainly try,” the lawyer replied calmly. “However, Russell underwent three independent psychiatric evaluations prior to signing these documents, specifically to anticipate a contest. Furthermore, he left a conditional clause.”
He looked directly at Victoria. “If any heir attempts to contest the distribution, their remaining ten percent trust stipends will be immediately revoked and donated to the charity your father selected.”
