PART 4: The Vulture’s Arrival

Just as the lawyer finished explaining, the heavy double doors of the law office swung open.

An elderly man in a bespoke suit marched in, accompanied by two stern-faced attorneys. His resemblance to Gloria was undeniable, though his posture radiated pure malice.

“Save the theatricals, counselor,” Victor sneered, slamming a cane against the tile floor. “Gloria is dead. Her estate reverts to the surviving kin line. I want her personal effects and the keys to the estate immediately.”

The lawyer stood up calmly, picking up the legal marriage certificate from the desk.

“I’m afraid you’re too late, Victor,” the lawyer said, his voice ringing with absolute authority. “Gloria was legally married three days before her passing. Under Section 4 of the foundation charter, the entire estate, real estate portfolio, and liquid holdings transfer directly to her surviving husband.”

Victor turned his furious glare toward me, his face flushing deep red. “This orderly? This nobody? It’s a sham! He manipulated a dying woman!”
