Part 2: The Gold and Pink Ambush

Part 3: The Gift of Absolute Truth

By four o’clock, the high-society guests had gathered around the central stage, taking their seats on plush white velvet chairs while waiters served imported desserts and five-star appetizers.

Camille and Daniel sat in two ornate gold-trimmed chairs at the center of the platform, looking like royalty addressing their court.

Camille tapped her microphone gently, her voice echoing through the high-end Bose surround-sound speakers installed around the lawn.

“Thank you all so much for coming today to celebrate our little miracle!” Camille gushed, her eyes sparkling under the afternoon sun.

“Daniel and I have waited so long for this moment, and to know that our son will carry on the proud Mercer name and legacy means more to us than words can say.”

Applause rippled through the audience as Daniel leaned over, kissing her cheek while several aunts wiped away theatrical tears.

“And now,” Camille continued, her eyes searching the crowd until they landed directly on me with calculated spite, “I think it’s time for the gift opening!”

“Naomi mentioned she brought a very special gift that she wanted to present personally… Naomi, why don’t you come up first?”

The crowd parted as I stood up from my table, holding the sleek silver box calmly against my side as I walked up the wooden steps of the stage.

“Thank you, Camille,” I said into the secondary wireless microphone provided by the event staff.

“When I received your invitation—and read your thoughtful note about my inability to give Daniel a son—I realized I needed to give you something of equal value.”

Daniel’s jaw tightened, his posture going rigid. “Naomi, if this is some kind of emotional scene—”

“It’s not an emotional scene, Daniel,” I interrupted smoothly, pulling the satin ribbon from the box. “It’s a comprehensive forensic medical disclosure.”

I opened the lid and pulled out three thick, leather-bound folders displaying official court seals and certified medical laboratory logos, along with a high-definition wireless media drive.

Before Daniel could react, Evelyn tapped a command on her tablet from the audience, overriding the venue’s giant presentation screen behind the stage that was originally meant to display baby ultrasound photos.

Instead, a crystal-clear digital document appeared on the sixty-inch display for all two hundred high-society guests to read.

It was an official diagnostic report from the National Fertility Clinic dated six years prior.

“This is Daniel’s original medical evaluation,” I announced calmly, my voice steady as an iron bar.

“Congenital azoospermia. Daniel has been completely, 100% sterile since birth.”

Gasps exploded across the audience like firecrackers, people sitting up straight, whispering furiously, and pointing at the screen.

Daniel stood up so fast his chair scraped violently against the wooden floorboards, his face turning an ash-gray color beneath his tan.

“What is this nonsense?!” Daniel roared, his voice cracking with panic. “That’s a lie! You forged that document!”

“I didn’t forge it, Daniel,” I replied coldly. “Your own private medical records were subpoenaed yesterday as part of our divorce fraud litigation.”

“You spent six years allowing your family, your mother, and your friends to call me defective, broken, and inadequate while you secretly knew you could never biological father a child.”

Camille stared at the screen, her breathing coming in shallow, frantic gasps, her manicured fingers digging into her silk gown. “Daniel… what is she talking about?!”

“But wait,” I said, turning to the second page projected onto the massive display. “If Daniel is sterile, everyone in this room must be wondering how our sweet Camille managed to conceive a Mercer heir.”

The screen refreshed, displaying a certified 99.99% DNA paternity match report issued by a court-accredited genetics laboratory three weeks ago.

The name highlighted in bold black ink at the top of the paternity report caused the entire three-hectare estate to go completely, suffocatingly quiet.

Paternal Contributor: Alistair Mercer.

Daniel turned his head slowly toward his younger brother standing at the edge of the stage, his eyes wide with an agonizing mix of betrayal, shock, and horror.

Alistair dropped his drink glass onto the stone tiles, where it shattered into a hundred glittering pieces.
