PART 5: The Final Resolution
“Enough, Arthur,” my grandmother commanded, her sharp voice cutting through the heavy tension. “We built this family on a lie, and it has finally collapsed under its own weight.”
She walked over to my side, placing a comforting hand on my shoulder as my mother buried her face in her hands, unable to meet my eyes.
“The money is gone, but the truth is finally out,” my grandmother said quietly to my father. “You spent thirty years protecting a bank account while ignoring the child who gave you a family.”
I turned my back on my parents, walking out into the cool night air with my biological medical records held tightly against my chest.
