PART 4: The Midnight Confrontation
The heavy oak doors of my parents’ estate flew open as I marched into the foyer, holding the yellowed files high in my hand. My father was pacing near the fireplace, a glass of scotch trembling in his grip, while my mother sat crying on the sofa.
“It was never about me cheating, was it?” I shouted, my voice echoing off the high ceilings. “It was about the money! The second my DNA went into that database, the hospital trust revoked your fortune!”
My father slammed his glass down onto the mantle, his face contorting into a mask of pure rage. “You ruined thirty years of silence in thirty seconds!”
“You sold my identity for a settlement!” I yelled back, stepping right into his space. “You treated me like a secret annuity instead of a son!”
