Part 4: How to Test If the Yolk Has Shifted

Before putting your spun egg into boiling water, you can verify if the yolk has broken and distributed properly using a quick light test:

  • The Flashlight Test (Candling): Hold a bright flashlight directly against the raw eggshell in a dark room.
  • Normal Unspun Egg: A light will pass right through a normal raw egg, glowing with a bright translucent yellow-pink light.
  • Successfully Inverted Egg: A properly spun egg where the yolk has dispersed outward will block the light completely, appearing dark and opaque.
