The medical term for these widespread, tiny white spots is Idiopathic Guttate Hypomelanosis (IGH).

“Guttate” means drop-like, and “hypomelanosis” refers to a localized loss of skin pigment. Unlike dark sun spots caused by overactive melanocytes, IGH occurs when sun damage over time causes a gradual loss or destruction of pigment-producing cells in small, scattered pinpoint patches.
