PART 2: THE REVELATION AT 8:03 A.M.
Daniel was still sitting at the kitchen table with his mother when the call came through from my legal team.
His voice was laced with anger when he answered, ready to demand my immediate return and an apology for taking the Porsche.
“Mr. Hawthorne, I represent your wife, Elena,” my attorney stated with razor-sharp professionalism. “I am calling to give you formal notice regarding your occupancy of the estate.”
Daniel scoffed, putting the phone on speaker so Margaret could hear the exchange. “Tell Elena her little game is over. She has two hours to bring back my car before I call the police.”
“The Porsche is registered under Elena’s family trust, Mr. Hawthorne, along with the title to the Hawthorne estate itself,” the attorney replied evenly.
Margaret’s smug smile collapsed in an instant as Daniel’s face drained of all color.
The attorney continued, explaining that every asset they had assumed was Daniel’s inheritance had actually been purchased through my late father’s real estate holding firm years before we even met.
