PART 2: THE UNSPOKEN TRUTH
I traced the edge of one long, faded mark with a trembling finger, feeling the jagged scar tissue beneath my hand.
My brother-in-law let out a shaky breath, finally opening his eyes to look at me with raw vulnerability.
“It wasn’t an accident that paralyzed me,” he whispered, his voice cracking after months of silence. “It was my brother.”
The rain outside seemed to roar louder, the drops hammering against the roof as his words settled in the room.
He explained how three years ago, just before my wedding, a bitter argument over land deeds had turned violent on the family estate.
My husband had lashed out in fury, causing a catastrophic fall that left his own brother paralyzed and covered in injuries.
