PART 3: THE TRAP CLOSES
I looked past Thomas to the bookshelf near the hallway, where a small green light flickered softly in the shadows.
Three months ago, after noticing missing cash and strange discrepancies, I had installed a hidden nanny camera facing the kitchen.
It hadn’t been meant for Sarah—it had been meant to catch a neighborhood thief, but tonight it caught a predator in a suit.
“You’re right, Thomas,” I said, a slow, icy smile spreading across my face as I pointed to the hidden lens.
“Nobody would take my word over yours, but they will certainly believe high-definition video with crystal-clear audio.”
Thomas’s face drained of all color as he whipped around, staring at the tiny lens blinking steadily on the shelf.
Sarah gasped, realizing in an instant that her affair and his holy facade were about to be exposed to the entire congregation.
Panic set in as Thomas reached for the camera, but I stepped firmly into his path, blocking him with twenty-five years of hard labor built into my frame.
