PART 2: THE RECKONING AT THE DOOR
Cynthia rattled the door handle repeatedly, her initial arrogance quickly turning into sheer panic. She pounded on the wood with her fists, screaming for Douglas to open up and put an end to this disrespect.
When the front door finally opened, it wasn’t Douglas standing there, but a uniformed security guard accompanied by my lead corporate attorney, Arthur Vance. Arthur held a thick folder of legal notices and a formal restraining order fresh from the court.
“Cynthia Vance, you are officially trespassing on private property,” Arthur announced calmly, his voice echoing across the quiet Scottsdale neighborhood. “Your personal belongings have already been packed into three boxes by a bonded moving crew and placed on the driveway.”
Douglas stood behind the attorney in a simple t-shirt, completely stripped of his tailored suits and corporate confidence. His face was pale as his mother spun around to glare at him, demanding to know why he was allowing his wife to humiliate them like this.
“She froze everything, Mom!” Douglas finally blurted out, his voice cracking with desperation. “My card didn’t work at the gas station, the company valet took the keys to the SUV, and HR sent an email terminating my position effective immediately!”
Cynthia turned back to face me as I walked onto the porch, looking at me with pure venom. “You think you can just throw us out after everything my son did for your business?” she shrieked. “We will sue you for every penny you have!”
I smiled coldly, pulling up the video from the night before on my tablet and holding it out for the neighborhood security team to see. “You destroyed my property, Cynthia, and admitted on camera to financial extortion. But that isn’t even the worst thing I uncovered today.”
