PART 3: CORNERED AND EXPOSED
“You forged my signature on those financial contracts, didn’t you?” Robin asked, his voice shaking with a mixture of heartbreak and rising anger as he looked through the documents.
Tabitha backed into the corner of the grand entryway, realizing that every exit was blocked by law enforcement officers stepping into the residence with warrants in hand.
“I did what I had to do!” she spat out, her polished, polite persona entirely stripped away, exposing the bitter greed underneath. “Your family has millions! You wouldn’t even have noticed the money was missing!”
The lead detective stepped forward, reading Tabitha her rights as steel handcuffs clicked around her manicured wrists right in front of the marble table where the water still pooled.
Robin sank onto the lower step of the staircase, burying his face in his hands as he tried to process how deeply he had been manipulated by the woman he almost married.
I walked over to my son, placing a warm, reassuring hand on his shoulder while the officers escorted the weeping, screaming Tabitha out to the waiting squad cars.
