PART 3: A RACE AGAINST TIME
The letter revealed that eighteen months prior, Kevin had been diagnosed with an aggressive, terminal neurological condition with only months left to live.
Knowing his time was short, he had dedicated his remaining days to seeking my forgiveness and securing my financial future.
“I acted cold this morning so you would hate me,” the letter continued. “It is easier to be angry at a heartless man than to mourn a dying husband.”
Tears streamed down my face as the attorney pulled out a second document—a fully executed deed transferring his entire estate and trust into my name.
“He collapsed less than an hour after you left,” the lawyer stated urgently. “He is at St. Jude’s Hospital right now.”
I didn’t hesitate for a single second, grabbing my coat and rushing out the door toward the hospital.
