PART 2: THE MORNING CALL
At 8:03 a.m. sharp, Daniel’s phone rang while he sat in the lavish living room surrounded by his triumphant family.
He answered with his usual arrogance, expecting me to be begging for forgiveness from a small motel room.
Instead, the cold, razor-sharp voice of Arthur Vance—the city’s most formidable trust attorney—echoed through the receiver.
“Mr. Hawthorne,” Arthur stated flatly, “I am calling to give you formal notice regarding the Hawthorne estate and all associated assets.”
Daniel scoffed, attempting to maintain his composure in front of his listening mother. “If this is about my wife’s little tantrum, she can bring my Porsche back herself.”
“The Porsche is registered under the Vance Family Living Trust, Mr. Hawthorne,” Arthur replied calmly. “As is the deed to the property you currently occupy.”
