PART 3: THE CONFRONTATION
The crowd gasped in unison as the full scale of the scheme appeared in bold numbers above the counter.
Customers began pulling out their phones, taking photos and checking their own banking apps in disbelief.
“They’ve been redirecting our payments all morning!” a man near the back shouted, stepping forward in anger.
Cornered and desperate, the cashier slammed her hand onto the counter, her composure completely shattered.
“It wasn’t my idea!” she cried out, pointing a trembling finger directly at the manager beside her.
The manager panicked, grabbing a stack of printed receipts from the register in a futile attempt to destroy the evidence.
Maya instantly reached across the marble divider, pinning his wrist to the counter before he could tear them apart.
“You took money meant for honest working families and thought no one would notice,” Maya said, her voice cutting through the rising chaos.
Two police officers burst through the front doors of the bakery, their presence immediately silencing the room.
