PART 3: THE TRAITOR UNMASKED

The crowd dissolved into panic as the private security force surrounding Mateo’s brother suddenly drew their weapons and pointed them directly at the general.

Mateo’s brother stepped forward, his face hardening as he abandoned his grieving facade entirely.

“You weren’t supposed to open that casket, General,” he sneered, adjusting his black suit coat as his mercenaries flanked the family perimeter.

“You sold out your own brother’s covert operation to the highest bidder,” Elena said, stepping between the armed men and the titanium briefcase with newfound courage.

The general’s voice cut through the tension like a blade. “Did you truly think Captain Mateo wouldn’t anticipate his own family’s betrayal?”

At that exact moment, the heavy iron gates of the cemetery slammed shut, and fully armored special forces descended from the surrounding treeline, surrounding the mercenaries.

From the shadow of the cemetery chapel stepped a figure in full tactical gear, removing his helmet to reveal the unmistakable, living face of Captain Mateo.

Mateo’s eyes locked onto Elena’s, filled with an intense, fierce devotion that brought instant tears to her eyes.
