Daniel rushed into the executive suite, his suit rumpled and his hair disheveled, only to find Vanessa standing in the center of the room surrounded by federal agents.
“Daniel, do something!” Vanessa shrieked, her designer handbag slipping from her shoulder as agents seized her corporate laptop and phone.
Her brother was already being escorted down the hall in handcuffs, completely unable to explain the millions in fraudulent invoices routed through his offshore accounts.
The lead investigator turned to Daniel, pulling out a signed warrant for his arrest regarding the government bribery scheme involving Marcus Vale.
“Your wife provided a flawless paper trail, Mr. Vance,” the investigator stated calmly. “Every offshore transfer, every bribe, every single shell account.”
Daniel slumped into an executive chair, looking at the empty glass table where his corporate empire used to stand tall.
Vanessa turned on him instantly, hurling accusations to save herself, but the evidence against both of them was ironclad and absolute.
As the officers snapped handcuffs around his wrists, Daniel realized that the woman he had dismissed as helpless had executed the most ruthless downfall high society had ever seen.
