Without uttering a single word, the grandmother walked past her mocking family, dripping water onto the wooden planks.
She reached into her soaked apron pocket and pulled out a small, heavy set of iron keys.
Her grandson began to chuckle nervously, but his smile vanished when he realized which keys she held.
They were the keys to the lake house, the estate, and every single trust fund account tied to the family legacy.
She walked directly to the shore, where a fire was burning in the outdoor pit, and tossed the legal deeds and master keys into the roaring flames.
The daughter-in-law shrieked in horror, dropping her phone as she rushed toward the fire pit to save the documents.
