“Eight years ago,” Samuel Vale began, his powerful voice filling every corner of the grand venue, “my daughter asked me to give a young, ambitious analyst a chance in our legal department.”

Adrian’s knees shook visibly as the reality of his position crashed down around him, his mind desperately trying to calculate a way out of the trap he had set for himself.

“Claire signed over her voting proxies, hid her identity to maintain professional boundaries, and quietly guided every single successful merger attributed to Adrian Cross,” my father continued.

Murmurs of absolute disbelief spread among the board members and department heads, who had assumed Adrian was a business prodigy working alone.

The lead attorney handed Adrian a single thick document, detailing his immediate termination for breach of fiduciary duty, public misconduct, and assault.

Adrian turned to me, horror in his eyes as he realized he had thrown away his career, his fortune, and his future in a single moment of foolish arrogance.
