Part 2: The Truth Exposed

The heavy silence inside the high-end private medical clinic was suffocating, broken only by the steady, rhythmic swoosh of the fetal monitor filling the sterile room.

I sat back on the examination table, my heart pounding in my chest, as Diego stepped further inside with his arms crossed arrogantly over his designer tailored jacket.

Paula hovered just behind his shoulder, clutching an expensive Italian leather handbag, a smirking, triumphant expression painted across her face as if she were attending a private screening of my public humiliation.

Diego had spent the last fortnight boasting to his high-society colleagues, his private banking advisors, and his corporate litigation team that he was the tragic victim of a cheating wife.

He had already drawn up plans to seize our two-story suburban residence, strip me of my equity in our joint commercial accounts, and move Paula into my home before the first trimester even ended.

“Go ahead, Doctor,” Diego sneered, throwing a condescending glance toward the screen before adjusting his luxury Swiss watch.

“Tell her the exact gestational age so we can cross-reference it with my business travel calendar and prove to the family court that she was sleeping with someone else while I was managing high-yield real estate investment portfolios in Chicago.”

Dr. Salinas did not flinch; she slowly turned the high-definition imaging monitor toward Diego, pointing a slender silver pen directly at the glowing grayscale display.

“Mr. Diego, if you had taken the time to attend your mandatory post-procedure urology consultations instead of rushing into prenuptial divorce negotiations, you would understand basic human anatomy,” Dr. Salinas stated, her voice dropping into a razor-sharp, professional register.

“First of all, a surgical vasectomy requires a minimum clearance window of twelve weeks and a confirmed microscopic semen analysis to guarantee total sterility.”

“Two months is completely insufficient, meaning your procedure was never medically cleared to begin with.”

Paula’s artificial smile faltered slightly as she shifted on her designer high heels, looking nervously between Diego and the glowing screen.

“That’s just a technicality!” Diego barked, his face flushing a deep, angry crimson as he took a aggressive step toward the examination table.

“The odds of a successful conception two months post-op are microscopic! She cheated on me, and I’m not paying a single dime of child support or high-ticket medical bills for another man’s bastard!”

Dr. Salinas pressed a key on her console, freezing a sharp, crystal-clear frame on the monitor, and looked Diego directly in the eyes with absolute, unyielding coldness.

“Look at the screen, Mr. Diego,” she commanded firmly.

“I am not just looking at one healthy gestational sac with a strong, rapid heartbeat.”

“I am looking at two distinct, fully developed amniotic sacs, each containing a thriving fetus.”

“Your wife is carrying identical twins.”

The room seemed to lose all oxygen in an instant.

Diego froze mid-sentence, his jaw dropping open as his eyes darted frantically across the screen, staring at the two distinct shapes flickering under the ultra-sound probe.

“T-twins?” Diego stammered, his confident, arrogant demeanor completely shattering into chaotic confusion.

“Identical twins occur when a single fertilized egg splits early in development, meaning both embryos share the exact same genetic blueprint,” Dr. Salinas explained with brutal precision.

“And given the advanced volumetric measurement of both sacs, conception occurred exactly six weeks ago—during the precise weekend you logged a luxury marital anniversary getaway with your wife at the five-star oceanfront resort in Miami.”

Paula gasped, her hands flying to her mouth as she turned to stare at Diego with wide, horrified eyes.

“Diego… you told me you hadn’t touched her in six months!” Paula shrieked, her voice echoing frantically through the medical suite.

“You told me your marriage was dead and that you were sleeping in the guest wing of your private villa!”

Diego couldn’t form a single word; he stood paralyzed, staring at the screen as the terrifying reality of his own foolishness, arrogance, and public cruelty crushed him like a mountain.

I looked up from the pillow, wiped a stray tear from my cheek, and smiled a cold, beautiful smile directly at my soon-to-be-ex-husband.

“You wanted a DNA test, Diego?” I asked softly, my voice filled with unshakeable authority.

“You’ll get one—right after my corporate litigation attorneys file for immediate emergency spousal support, total asset preservation, and your complete eviction from my mother’s ancestral trust property.”
