Part 3: The Asset Freeze
The fallout from the church steps moved like a wildfire through the high-net-worth social circles of the city within less than an hour.
Guests abandoned the lavish reception venue—a five-hectare lakefront villa estate featuring manicured rose gardens, crystal chandeliers, and five-star private catering.
Julian stood in the center of the empty ballroom, his custom tuxedo unbuttoned, staring blankly at the untouched multi-tiered wedding cake while his mother paced frantic circles on the polished hardwood floor.
“Julian, you have to fix this!” Diane shrieked, her voice cracking as she clutched her pearl necklace. “Call her! Tell her it was all a misunderstanding! Tell her I was confused!”
“Fix it?!” Julian shouted back, slamming his fist onto a glass cocktail table, shattering a crystal champagne flute. “She canceled the marriage license registration before the priest even left the sacristy!”
“Her mother holds the primary deed to my luxury vehicle, my private equity investments, and the commercial loan note on my firm’s office tower!”
Before Diane could launch into another theatrical outburst, the grand double doors of the ballroom swung open.
My chief corporate legal advisor, Marcus Vance, walked in alongside two uniformed officers from the private security firm guarding the estate.
Marcus pulled a stack of legally binding emergency court injunctions and asset preservation orders from his leather briefcase, setting them squarely on the head table.
“Good afternoon, Mr. Vance,” Marcus announced with cold, surgical precision. “I am here on behalf of Victoria Strategic Capital and Mrs. Elena Vance.”
“As of thirty minutes ago, an emergency judicial freeze has been placed on all joint bank accounts, line-of-credit facilities, and commercial real estate holdings tied to the Vance-Montgomery merger.”
Diane gasped, clutching her chest as if she were having a heart attack. “You can’t do that! That money is allocated for my private healthcare and estate maintenance!”
“The funds were derived from fraudulent misrepresentation and breached prenuptial covenants, Mrs. Montgomery,” Marcus replied without a hint of warmth.
“Furthermore, we have filed formal civil litigation for intentional infliction of emotional distress, commercial fraud, and grand theft regarding the missing family heirlooms.”
Julian collapsed into a velvet chair, burying his face in his hands as the reality of his complete financial and social ruin washed over him.
He had sacrificed his marriage, his reputation, and his future security just to appease a mother whose greed had ultimately destroyed them both.
“Where is Elena…?” Julian whimpered softly, looking up at Marcus with eyes red from unshed tears. “Please… just let me talk to her for five minutes…”
“Elena is currently resting at her oceanfront villa suite in coastal California,” Marcus stated firmly, snapping his briefcase shut.
“And she has made it abundantly clear that your presence is permanently barred from her life, her properties, and her empire.”
