PART 2: The Silent Erasure

PART 3: Confronting the Mask

I didn’t scream. I didn’t cry.

Instead, a quiet, icy clarity washed over me. I printed every single log, saved every altered account setting, and called my family lawyer before the sun had fully risen.

That afternoon was my ex-husband Mark’s turn to pick Emma up for their weekend.

When his car pulled into the driveway, Sarah got out of the passenger side, wearing her signature warm, disarming smile and holding a freshly baked batch of cookies.

“Hi, Jennifer!” Sarah called out brightly, her voice dripping with artificial sweetness. “We thought we’d pick Emma up a little early today for a surprise spa afternoon!”

I stepped out onto the porch, holding a thick manila folder in my hand.

“Emma is upstairs packing,” I said calmly, looking Sarah straight in the eyes. “Mark, step out of the car. We need to talk.”

Mark looked annoyed as he unbuckled his seatbelt. “Jen, what is it now? We have plans.”

I opened the folder and handed the printed documents directly to Mark.

“Read page three,” I said softly. “The part where your wife told our ten-year-old daughter that I didn’t love her enough to stay married to you.”

Mark’s eyebrows furrowed as his eyes scanned the printed class diary entries and the unauthorized changes to the school’s legal records.

Sarah’s cheerful smile faltered, her face pale as she realized what was in his hands.
