Part 4: How DIY Herbal Infusions Are Prepared
Social media posts often promote homemade herb-infused oils for joint massage—here is how they are standardly prepared:
- Dry the Herbs: Ensure bay leaves and rosemary sprigs are completely dry to prevent bacterial growth or mold in the oil.
- Combine with Carrier Oil: Place the herbs in a clean glass jar and cover them completely with extra virgin olive oil or sweet almond oil.
- Infuse Slowly: Seal the jar and let it infuse in a cool, dark place for 2 to 4 weeks, shaking gently every few days.
- Strain and Apply: Strain out the plant matter through a fine mesh strainer and store the infused oil in a dark glass bottle for topical massage.
