Part 6: How to Prevent Fabric Snags in the Coil

If you regularly use safety pins for fashion fixes or heavy garments, these simple tricks will keep your clothes safe:

  • Use Covered Coilless Pins: Look for “coilless” or “gourd” safety pins (often used for tagging clothes or crafting), which lack the open spiral loop entirely.
  • Add a Tiny Bead: Slide a small plastic or glass bead over the sharp end down to the coil before pinning fabric to block threads from entering the loop.
  • Position the Clasp Outward: Ensure the solid clasp side faces the area experiencing the most movement or tension to minimize fabric shifting into the base.
